For those of you sending me emails or comments, some of you even concerned and wondering if I’m still alive… OMG, thank you! Thanks for all the heart warming comments and taking the time to write me an email.

Just click on the size you want and save the background to your computer.

The importance of Color!

Posted by Caroline in Illustration On January 9th, 2013 - (3 Comments)

I wanted to show you what it can look like when I try different color combinations for my illustrations, here illustrated with the January desktop background. I usually start off with just picking a color palette that I like, either by browsing photos/illustrations on google, playing around in illustrator, or using one of many color palette generators (google it!). I like Color Scheme Designer. After I have my palette ready, I start applying it to my illustration, and keep changing it around until I’m satisfied. I absolutely LOVE this part of creating an illustration.

January 2013 desktop calendar

Posted by Caroline in Freebies | Illustration On January 1st, 2013 - (31 Comments)

Happy new year my friends! New year, new month, new desktop background. I’ve decided to not do all the different sizes anymore, simply because there is not enough time. It takes me a lot of extra time to create all the backgrounds, save them, upload, link them properly… I’ve tried to pick a size that should suit most computers, it might get at little cropped though…

The theme for the year will be my “girls” and animals, as I plan to make more of a cohesive calendar and maybe put something together by the end of the year. I hope you stick around and use my monthly desktop calendars!

I you feel like changing things up on your desktop you can always use the owl wallpaper I created for december last year. It doesn’t have a calendar, and there’s only one size, but I think it’ll work for most screens anyway. Just click the image below and then save to your computer.

Christmas Gift Wrapping idea

Posted by Caroline in Crafty | Illustration On December 16th, 2012 - (3 Comments)

I cut out some of the christmas snowflakes from the Christmas Decorations book and used them as decor for my christmas presents. I guess it’s not very hard to guess what’s inside?  ; )

Happy Lucia

Today is lucia, one of my favorite days around christmas. It’s also the date me and my boyfriend met, 4 years ago = extra reason to celebrate!

Something that I’ve forgotten to tell you about is MY BOOK, Christmas Decorations to Cut, Fold and Stick. I actually got to illustrate a book, all by myself. Well, not totally by myself, I worked very closely with the very wonderful Hanna Ahmed at Usborn Publishing, the designer of the book. Fiona Watt is the author of the book, she created all the wonderful constructions for the decorations.

The book is filled with christmas patterns in different color palettes, and there are a lot of christmas decorations to cut, fold and stick. There’s a total of 100 sheets in the book, 200 pages. You can create angels, stars, snowflakes…. It’s perfect for kids age 6-9, but absolutely suitable for younger and older too.

I can not tell you what an amazing feeling it is to get to hold my own book in my hands. Or to see it in a store. Or read reviews from complete strangers saying that they absolutely love the book and their kids had an amazing time creating the decorations (yes, it’s true, people really write these kinds of reviews). My eyes tear up every time (haha, yep…). If you’d like to get your hands on a copy I think you’ll need to google it, a lot of online stores says “out of stock” though. Swedish readers: Enklast är att knata iväg till akademibokhandeln eller beställa på adlibris.

2012 is coming to and end, which means that I can put together the entire collection of my free desktop calendars for 2012. It’s been fun making them, all though at times very stressful. I know a lot people like them, I get both comments and emails and for that I want to say THANK YOU. For 2013 I will change the concept a bit, as I will have a theme that connects them all together (you’ll notice, the january desktop will be published and available for download by the end of this month).

My favorites are February, October and November. Which one do you prefer?
